Our dogs benefit from the sights and smells all around them.If you’re enjoying a walk with them take a look and you’ll likely see their noses to the ground. Why? That’s where all the good sniffs are, especially in the morning. Many are eager to check out their property to see who has been on their turf overnight.Exercise should always be tailored to the needs of your dog. Not the other way around. Here’s an example – Arwen is my senior teacup Yorkie with a collapsing trachea. Her walks are tailored to her. On our 1st walk of the day, she spends more time sniffing than she spends moving. We spend as much time as she wants standing while she investigates. Once she’s done she’s done and it’s back inside we go – until the next walk.Happy walking 😀#lesleyosborn#dogsarefamily 🐾💞🏡#storyteller #author #tiatalksbook 🖋️Find me on the web.

Morning Lesley, my sweet girl truly enjoys her 5 am strolls especially when the dew is on the grass and the smells untouched 😊. Sometimes she’ll spend minutes sniffing one spot. I let her enjoy her morning scents especially since the oppressive heat in Jacksonville these days shortens our day time strolls 😉.

My beagles used to go right to the object they were tracking with their noses. My Yorkie and Morkie don't seem to have such sensitive noses and tend to sniff in the general location of objects that I notice visually long before they find them through their sense of smell.
