With the information explosion online, how can you tell fake news from the real thing, or be more sensitive to how information can be weaponised? In the fifth century BCE, a Greek by the name of Herodotus faced a similar challenge when he set out to examine why his people, the Greeks, and the Persians went to war with each other. Chief among his tasks was deciding what and whom to believe, as he pieced together the events of the past. His response was to produce an enquiry (in Greek: historiē, which is where the English word ‘history’ comes from). In this free course,Herodotus and the invention of history, explore how Herodotus puts together his enquiry and learn how in doing so he makes the problem of finding out what happened to our own history too.

Hey! If you're 15-19, internationally minded and looking for something interesting and fun over the summer I would highly recommend checking out UWC short courses.
UWC (United World Colleges) is a movement which makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. As well as running 17 IB schools in 17 countries, they run short courses which tend to be in the summer and appeal to those who want to have a condensed UWC experience.
They tend to be anywhere from a week to a month long, and most run in the summer months but some are at other points in the year. Each short course focuses on different themes such as "Building and Crossing Bridges" (to do with culture and identity among other things) or "Global Leadership Forum" (to do with leadership among other things). Every year there are at least a dozen or so short courses running and you can look here to find out more. Each short course will specify how to apply and how to recieve scholarship funds if you need it.
I really hope if this appeals to you, you can research more! I would really recommend this experience to anyone
