Have you ever wanted to buy a game on Steam but didn't know if it was good? Have you ever had just enough money for an indie game but didn't know whether it was worth buying? Have you ever asked yourself, "Should I buy this game?"

Then you're in luck. Here, you can ask others questions about any game on Steam or any other game on any console, whether it is about the graphics, the plot, the game play, or even the length.

Do not open links to games sent to you through PM, as these often contain malware

Rules

  • 1 - Help Us Help You. When asking for a recommendation, help us by providing context to your question. Give us details about what types of games you enjoy, which games you don't enjoy, and why you're unsure about your purchase. People can't help you make a decision if you don't express yourself. For this reason, we require all posts to be at least 300 characters long. Why Does Rule 1 (Help Us Help You) Exist?

  • 2 - You may not make threads on unreleased content. People can't give you a recommendation on something that no one had the chance to try out.

  • 3 - Touchy Subjects, Appeals: In the cases where the mods have a problem with your conduct and there's no specific rule, moderator decisions stand. For disputes please Message the Moderators.

  • 4 - No spoilers without a warning. Spoilers include, and are not limited to, revealing something about the plot late in the game or explaining an important plot point. This goes for both comments and posts. Mark something as a spoiler by putting the spoiler text in between >! and !< (with no space in between). It should appear as like this: Broodje eats socks!

  • 5 - Please no trading here. While giving away games is fine, this is not the place for the trading of games of any sort. Go to /r/SteamGameSwap to do that.

  • 6 - You may not encourage in any way to illegally obtain or modify a game. While we do not care to pry into your own personal decision, we will not allow you to tell others to emulate, torrent, pirate, modify, or in any other way get a hold of a game without legal consent of the producer. Paid mods fall in this category, but free mods generally are fine. This goes for both comments and posts. Please read Why Does Rule 6 (No Emulation) Exist?

  • 7 - No spam of any sort, including using the same words or phrases repeatedly, writing nonsense to bypass the minimum character limit, Youtube/Twitch channel promotions, promotion of your own game, repetitive/unwarranted recommendations, or links to websites outside of the normal realm of video game shopping.

  • 8 - No key resellers.

  • 9 - Do not try to profit from our community. This includes referral or affiliate links.

  • 10 - This place is chill. We're talking about good video games. If you can't be chill, get out. Disagreements are okay. Heated discussions are okay. Attacking each other is not okay.

  • 11 - We require a higher standard for YSB posts over and above an "I liked it" or "it's free". YSB posts should be proper reviews. This is to prevent low quality posts from cluttering the sub.

  • If you are having any sort of problem with the subreddit, don't hesitate to contact a mod.
